I might buy that sweatshirt but I wouldn't wear it until trump is no longer president. Soo embarrassing to be an American right now and I especially wouldn't wear it traveling to another country.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I know that many people in our country feel this way and that you are not alone, but being an American, to me, is so much more than who the president is. When I think of being an American, I think of people like my son's kindergarten teacher who goes above and beyond for her students; our neighbors that would literally do anything for anyone; the owners of my favorite restaurants who pour their heart into everything they do; the guy at the grocery store who always asks how my day is (and actually cares); and people who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms for decades. Always proud to be an American, 4 years ago and still today.
Of course those people are what it means to be a good American as they are in all of our communities. Let me ask you if any of them are people of color, immigrants, single women, veterans, people with disabilities, etc. and if so, ask them what they think of how are country is changing at the moment. And speaking of people that died for our freedom, how do you think they would feel knowing that the current president is now aligning himself with dictators and breaking ties with our allies whom we fought alongside with for those very freedoms?
If millions of people along with myself weren't also proud Americans we wouldn't be so heartbroken at what's going on in our country right now. Yes, who our president is, is very important and matters very much to all of us as he represents us, is supposed to stand up for and support ALL of us and be part of our global community as well, which, he is clearly not doing.
