10 Things That Made This Week Great
Ran some errands in Portland with my Freddie and we stumbled upon something called The Wishing Tree. “Write a wish, tie to the tree,” the instructions clearly said. I loved reading through wish after wish and it reminded me of when I used to read the Post Secret blog religiously back in the day—some notes break your heart, others make you laugh, and a lot of them are so relatable.
Had the privilege of having Jessica Bennett, founder of Alice Lane on the podcast this week and loved every minute of our conversation. We talked about her inspiring and wild story of how she got started, and she shared 3 crucial tips for designing a kitchen that’s both beautiful and functional. Make sure to have a listen!
Enjoyed several very good bagels from Sincerely Bagel in Portland. The poppyseed, onion, and gruyere bagel with chive cream cheese was *everything*.
This reel legitimately made me cry.
Snapped a pic of my little family the other morning which I feel like totally encapsulates the phase we are in. It’s chaotic, it’s messy, and it’s really sweet.
A new fire pit in the backyard = S’MORES. Actually very impressed with how cute and convenient our new gas fire pit from Walmart is. Thrilled to be using this all summer.
Recipe of the week was lit. If you haven’t made peach tiramisu, you are missing out (my kids were obsessed).
Made the BEST angel food cake from the NYT’s cookbook this week and I was very pleased with how good it turned out. Followed the recipe to a T, served with fresh berries and cream, and would make again in a heartbeat. BTW if you don’t have this cookbook, it’s an absolute must have for anyone who considers themself a food enthusiast.
Snuck away for the better part of today with one of my dearest friends in the world to get pampered at the spa, eat delicious (and uber cheap) Mexican food, slowly enjoy ice cream, and stroll the cute “downtown” area of Newberg, OR. There are friends and then there are friends. Grateful for a friendship that’s now spanning the decades.
Killer shrimp ceviche tostadas with my beautiful friend Ryleigh who I met freshmen year at Utah State University. After spending the day away, I came home to my little family sitting on the back porch with dinner made, the table set, and music playing. I know the effort that takes (especially when you’re juggling all 3 kids) and coming home to that made me feel extraordinarily loved. My only regret is not taking a picture. TY, Cody! 💛
What are you up to this weekend? Anything fun? Listening to Coldplay? Tell me everything.
Saturday night my husband and I are keeping all 3 grands!!! 💙8, 🩷6, and 🩷2 we are making 4 homemade pizzas and they have already chosen their toppings…my grandsons is pepperoni, green peppers and lots of black olives…I love it and can’t wait to taste!!! The rest are cheese (2-3 kinds), all veggie, and pepperoni. After pizza we are going to load them up and head to a local ice cream shop. Then it’s bath time and bed….wish us luck!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻😂😂😂
PS: Their parents will be enjoying a night out with friends a comedy show ( Nate Bargatz 😂😂😂) and dinner.😍
