An Insane Netflix Documentary, My New Fav Sweater, & A Sweet ABBA Cover
Female Foodie Friday Vol. 19
Yesterday was an exceptional day.
The sun was shining. It was an even 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
People in the PNW were losing their minds in the best way possible.
They were wearing shorts, driving with windows down, and I even saw a man walk out to his car barefoot. I love what the first sun will do to people after weeks of being cooped inside.
HEY! You new here? Make sure and subscribe so you don’t miss out on any of the good stuff.
I watched the most insane documentary this weekend on Netflix called The Search For Instagram’s Worst Con Artist.
It’s about an Australian girl named Belle Gibson who makes up an extremely far-fetched story of healing her body from terminal brain cancer by using alternative therapies and drinking green smoothies.
Not only does she cook up this incredibly deceitful story, but she persuades and influences thousands of people through social media and an eventual cookbook to ditch modern medicine and follow her concoction of lies.
It was easy to watch, and even my husband Cody was intrigued (always a win!).
Binge-worthy story aside, it made me think deeply about trust.
Trust is truly the greatest currency we can possess and exchange. Without trust, we have nothing.
Years ago, I read The Kite Runner (which is an excellent historical fiction read btw), and this quote from Amir’s dad has always stuck with me:
“When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth.” -Baba
Moral of the story: don’t lie. And especially don’t lie about cancer.
Quick Italy-related announcement!
We are looking for an exceptional intern to help with one of our spring Female Foodie Tours! Someone energetic, responsible, detail oriented, and organized. If you are interested, please see my “INTERN” Instagram story highlight for details.
10 Things That Made This Week Great
Saw this on a friend’s story this week and LOVED it. Moms are the best! Grateful for my mom. 🫶🏼
Sometimes my kids love each other. And when they do, it’s the sweetest.
Keeping my meals on the simple side since it’s Italy crunch time. Bacon + basted eggs + McDonald’s-style Trader Joe’s hash browns for the win (I love these hash browns crisped up and cut into pieces for breakfast burritos, BTW!).
I love it when Mount Hood comes out to show off.
Spent the entire day Saturday with one of my dearest friends in the world (who is coming off her first year of mothering TWINS 💪🏼) adventuring in and around Portland. We enjoyed a beautiful hike, ate some incredible food, and even squeezed some shopping into the mix.
The best friendships are the easiest friendships—it doesn’t matter if it’s been 3 years or 3 months, we always pick up right where we left off.
Annnnd just as we were finishing our hike we saw two people getting engaged!! I love love.
Sally is my entire personality.
There’s a brand new poke shop in Vancouver, WA and it. is. so. good. Hit up Husubis’ Poké Shop if you’re in the area or visiting!
In looooove with this cotton cashmere sweater. I have it in olive green, and I’m tempted to buy one of every color.
This cover of Slipping Through My Fingers sung by a mother-son duo is beautiful.
How has your week been? Barely surviving or totally thriving? PS: next month is ITALY month, and I’ve got 4 weeks of Italian-themed recipes headed your way!
